KEY LOCATION HIGHLIGHTS
In 2011, the Buffalo Niagara International Airport completed the voluntary five year update to the Part 150 Airport Noise Compatibility Study, which establishes a standard method airport operators can use to analyze the noise created by airport operations. It also creates guidelines for acceptable noise abatement, including aviation and land-use remedies. The Quieter Home Program was the result of the Part 150 Study. BNIA received federal grant funding for this program, which examined and contacted all eligible homes/parcels based on FAA standards.
NFTA releases first fleet of new Hybrid buses to the public. The buses use a combination of diesel/electric technology and have environmental benefits.
Project to treat aircraft deicing fluid is completed at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Contaminated stormwater is distributed to specifically designed beds and that promotes biological degradation of glycol and other contaminants in the water.
